“David H. Fenker, 78, a resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County, passed away at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. He had been in failing health for the past year and had been a patient there for the past two months.

Mr. Fenker was born in Fort Wayne on May 24, 1937, a son of Herman G. and Bernice (Miller) Fenker, and spent his formative years there. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne in 1956 and as a young man served with the U.S. Navy.

On Nov. 29, 1969, he was married in Fort Wayne to Sherran K. Schuelein. The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Fort Wayne and had lived in Green Township in Noble County since 1976.
Employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne for over 35 years, he retired from their quality control department in 1999.

He was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post No. 157 in Churubusco and Churubusco Veterans of Foreign Wars Turtle Post No. 3846. In his leisure time he enjoyed his small farm, watching WWE wrestling and the Indianapolis Colts, and was a fan of Notre Dame football.
Mrs. Fenker preceded him in death on March 3, 2003. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kris (Mark) Trabel of Auburn; two sons, Curt (Joey) Fenker of Albion and Andy Fenker of Churubusco; two sisters, Mary North and Fran Greene, both of Fort Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Myers, in 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, with Father Danney Pinto, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege, officiating.”
