Donald Stephen Kaiser, age 77, of Pensacola passed away April 27, 2009. He was born August 10, 1931 to Louis Donald & Lucille Clarke Rolph Kaiser in Wilmington, DE.

Known as Steve to his family and friends, he grew up in Wilmington, DE, graduated from Salesianum High School, completed 2 years at the University of Delaware before his appointment to the United States Naval Academy where he was a member of the Class of 1955. He attended flight school in Pensacola, FL and received his wings in Corpus Christi, TX in 1957. He served in four patrol plane squadrons flying P2V and P5M’s.

During his service career he served in many positions including, Commander of Caribbean Sea Frontier Staff, US Naval Postgraduate School, Chief of Naval Air Training Staff, Commanding Officer Naval Recruiting District, Naval Aviation Schools Command and Staff of Chief of Naval Education and Training which took him and his family to Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Brunswick, ME, Columbia SC, Jacksonville, Milton and Pensacola, FL where he retired after 26 years. He then became a simulator flight instructor for 10 years at Whiting Field, Milton, and 5 years at Sherman Field aboard PNAS.

Steve was a man of many interests which included photography, computers and a life long love of fishing. He was a member of the Pensacola Big Game Fishing Club where he earned Top Angler and Top Boat awards numerous times. He enjoyed fishing aboard his boat “Venture” with his family, friends and co-capt. Wally Coupe’. Steve was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelica DiSabatino Kaiser.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Kaiser, one daughter, Denise M. Martin, sons, Lawrence E. Kaiser (Valerie), Richard S. Kaiser (Chris) and Anthony T. Kaiser, all of Pensacola. Stepsons, Ronald A. Davis, Kenneth L. Davis both of Pensacola, and Brian E. Davis (Wendi) of Gulf Breeze. Grandchildren are Travis and Ryan Black of Ft. Smith, AR, Austin, Shelby, Angelina and Courtney Kaiser of Pensacola, Lauren, Walker and Sarah Davis of Gulf Breeze and two great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday May 03, 2009 in the Oak Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday May 04, 2009 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Monsignor James Flaherty. Burial will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
