“John was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. He joined the Naval Air Reserve in 1956 and retired in 1982. He spent 3 and 1/2 years on active duty, two of which were with VP21 from 1958 to 1960. During his tour of
duty with VP21, he made two major deployments. One was to Hal Far, Malta. The other was to Sigonella, Sicily.

In his civilian employment, John has spent the past 40 years working in private industry in the field of Quality Assurance. He has worked mostly on military programs for such companies as the General Electric (Missile and Space Division), RCA (Government Communication Systems Division), American Electronic Laboratories, Teledynamics (Division of Hamilton Standard), and several other companies where he has developed and implemented QA programs which were acceptable to both the military and to the International Organization of Standards. He is presently employed by Dontech in
Doylestown, PA as the Director of Quality Assurance.

John spent many long years attending evening classes at night school which resulted in his attainment of a Certificate of Proficiency from Temple University in Electrical Engineering Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree from La Salle University in Industrial Management.

John has been, and still remains, active in his professional society, The American Society for Quality (Philadelphia Section), for about 30 years. He has held many offices within this organization, some of which include: the
President, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He presently resides as a member of the Board of Directors.

John’s family life consists of his wife, Nancy, and three grown children: Timothy, Amy, and Jennifer, along with his two miniature long-haired dachshunds, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg ( “”The Spice Girls”” ).

John has been editing the Vagabond Newsletter since the Winter of ’00. Nancy is very pro-active in assisting him in this effort by proof-reading the Newsletter for grammatical correctness. She cracks his knuckles with a ruler when he fails to do so (she is a teacher). Nancy also provides assistance with stapling, applying the labels, and bundling the Newsletters in zip code groupings which are required by the Post Office.

John is looking forward to retirement in June of ’03 when he can devote more time to pursuing his hobbies of model ship building, traveling, and camping in his recently acquired motorhome.”
