“John M. (Mickey) McGivaren, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at Natchez Community Hospital. Local arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. As per Mr. McGivaren’s request there will be no services.

Mr. McGivaren was born March 13, 1941 in Natchez, MS, the son of John Michael McGivaren and Pearl Gieger McGivaren.

He was a 1959 graduate of Natchez High School. He was a lieutenant commander United States Navy pilot. After his Naval service he was a commercial airline pilot for Delta Airlines and World Airways. He later was a lobsterman in Freeport, Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, blues music and jazz music.

Survivors include three sons: Michael McGivaren of New York City, Mark McGivaren of Spartenburg, S.C. and their mother Sharon Lane of Milton, FL, and Booth McGivaren of Auburn, Maine and his mother Barbara McGivaren of Portland, Maine. two grandchildren, and two brothers: R. Patrick McGivaren of Rome, GA and Timothy McGivaren of Natchez.”
